Everyman Cinemas is staging its fifth annual music and film festival, featuring music documentaries, movie premieres and themed events, including after-show parties, DJ sets and an 1980s-themed rave.
The festival aims to celebrate the crossover and creativity between the fields of music and film.
As part of the event, Everyman is partnering online music platform Boiler Room to show a documentary abouy Aretha Franklin's performance with a choir at the New Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles in 1972. The screening will be accompanied by a live choir.
There will also be a gala screening of the movie Beats, followed by a 1980s-style rave at underground bar Supermax in London, while the Baker Street Everyman will be transformed into a 1970s house party to accompany the screening of a Jimi Hendrix film.
Other events include the premiere of Teen Spirit, a screening of Elton John biopic Rocketman and Q&A sessions. The festival runs from 9 to 26 May at various Everyman cinemas in London and across the UK.
