Downie told Event that her company, called "Solutionz By Izania", already has four clients, including a medical association, and companies in the publishing and automotive industries.

The move will see Izania cut her time at Eventia down to three days a week.

"It's communications and experiential, a whole mix," said Downie about the start-up. She added that setting up her own business had always been a plan.

At the same time, project director Rogers is taking voluntary redundancy and will be leaving Eventia at the end of August.

"I feel it is the right time for me to pull back from the general activities of the association and focus on specific projects of personal interest," he said. "I've agreed with the Eventia board that we are keeping the door open for the possibility of working on discrete projects in the future, around education and research in particular."

With Downie remaining at the helm as CEO and board director, the Eventia management team will continue to be headed by marketing services director Tracy Johnson, supported by membership and marketing services manager Harpreet Tumber, communications manager Sarah Malkin, and events and marketing services co-ordinator Philippa Smith.
