I got into the event industry because of a chance encounter.
I have worked here since I can remember.
I was attracted to this particular role because I could stretch my wings and create an innovative and important new business tourism voice in London, The Westminster Collection.
Not many people know that I was trained to kill.
My worst experience at an event was having it closed down by Westminster City Council’s 24-Hour Noise Team.
If there’s one thing I’ve learnt it’s watch your back.
The best event I’ve been involved in was the 1984 Daily Mail’s Ski Show with Princess Diana and the Ski Fantasia produced to Michael Jackson’s Thriller.
If I could do it all over again I would do it all over again.
The one thing I can’t stand is standing still.
Outside of work I spend my time communing with nature – I’ve currently walked 480 miles of the South West Coast Path – only 150 miles to go.
If money were no object but, it is!
The one event I will never miss is my own funeral.
The next 12 months will be the same as the previous ones: challenging, vibrant, demanding, fulfilling, creative, fun and healthy.
If I could switch places with anyone else in the industry it would be Boris Johnson – I would like to have a crack at promoting London.
If I ruled the event industry I would start with a focused and single-minded vision statement, rebrand it, repackage it, consolidate it and sell it like it was Coke, Nike or Google – as a worldwide brand.
