I got into the event industry because delivering great experiences at world class events provides a buzz like no other.
I have worked here since February 2015.
I was attracted to this particular role because it provided me with the opportunity to bring my skills and experience to a different range of events, and to play a part in their development.
The significance of the events, in terms of heritage and gravitas, was an important factor, as well as the challenge of raising their profile to wider audiences. Over the last 10 months I have had the privilege of working on Bonhams London to Brighton Veteran Car Run, the Regent Street Motor Show and Silverstone Classic. It’s been a brilliant year.
Not many people know that Goose Live Events are the team behind the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run, which they organise and promote on behalf of the Royal Automobile Club.
The best event I’ve been involved was... I can’t single any one event out. I had a brilliant 10 years with Cowes Week, but working on the Regent Street Motor Show and the Bonham London to Brighton Veteran Car Run has been very special.
If I could do it all over again I wouldn’t change a thing. I’ve had some amazing experiences, met inspiring people, and learned lessons where things haven’t quite gone to plan.
The one thing I can’t stand is... taking a more positive view; the one thing I love is working with like-minded people who have a can-do attitude, aren’t afraid of hard work, and deliver to the highest levels. You can’t beat being part of a great team.
Outside of work I spend my time running, cycling, swimming and occasionally competing in half marathons, marathons and triathlons.
If money were no object I would… In terms of event budgets, I would spend more on the promotion of the events that I work on.
If I could switch places with anyone else in the industry it would be... I actually don’t think I would! I am happy with my own place.
If I ruled the event industry I would encourage more collaboration, ensure timely responses, and outlaw those that don’t share the same work ethic. Maybe I wouldn’t be quite so extreme but it’s just so good to work with good people.
