I have worked here at Zafferano for six happy years.
I was attracted to this particular role because I knew Zafferano was going to be a force to be reckoned with. When I joined, Zafferano was a vibrant new kid on the block with a unique artisanal approach to its food and a real integrity observing seasonality in ingredients. This approach has definitely paid off, as six years later we now work with over 30 London and only this week have been invited to join the list at the prestigious British Museum. I was right!
Not many people know that we work closely with über chef Mark Hix and will be launching an exciting joint collaboration in the New Year.
My worst experience at an event was a David Beckham look-a-like getting locked in the loo just before he was due to go on stage and deliver an award. And bride putting the ashes of her recently deceased father on a food stall and people thinking he was croutons (NOT a Zafferano event I hasten to add).
If there's one thing I've learnt it's get everything in writing
The best events I've been involved in are the European Premier of Chicago the Musical; the post production party of Band of Brothers & lots of weddings for footballers, film stars and the odd royal.
If I could do it all over again I would learn karate.
The one thing I can't stand is guests arriving early.
Outside of work I spend my time apologising to my husband and children for working so hard.
If money were no object I would employ a flock of new party planners to help us cope with the massive demand for Zafferano events.
The one event I will never miss is my children’s birthdays and their Nativity plays (my eldest is Mary this year and I am so proud).
The recession has meant that people want more for their buck. They are still happy to spend £40 per bottle but want a nice discreet red than a show-off fizz.
The next 12 months will be challenging with client’s continuing to watch their pennies, but exciting in the lead up to 2012.
If I could switch places with anyone else in the industry it would be head of events – Sandy Lane Barbados….enough said!
If I ruled the event industry I'd invert the alphabet so Zafferano appeared at the top of every suppliers list.
