Event TV: Glasgow Airport arrivals transformed into loch-side woodland

Loch Lomand & The Trossachs National Park Authority has worked with agency Designline Creative to create a 3D sensory experience at the international arrivals walkway at Glasgow Airport, inspired by Scottish woodland trail, the West Highland Way.

Passengers flying into the airport will step from the plane onto a dappled woodland scene, complete with indigenous wildlife such as the red squirrel and black grouse, the scent of the forest and the sound of birdsong. Travellers will also be able to sit down on wooden benches and take in mountainous scenery.

The activation, which was funded by Loch Lomand & The Trossachs National Park, supported by Glasgow Airport and driven forward by Loch Lomand & The Trossachs National Park Destination Group, has been designed to encourage visitors to the city to explore the surrounding countryside.

It was launched in time for the Commonwealth Games in July and will stay open for guests to the MTV Europe Video Music Awards and MOBO awards to enjoy later this year.

Fiona Logan, chief executive of Loch Lomand & The Trossachs National Park, said: "We wanted to create a memorable sense of arrival for people when they step off the plane by giving them a taste of the National Park, which is only 30 minutes drive away.

"What we have produced here is the perfect welcome to Scotland - helping people to unwind while they drink in the sights and sounds of the National Park, and we hope they’ll be inspired to come and experience it for real."

Amanda McMillan, managing director of Glasgow Airport, added: "For many, Glasgow Airport is their first impression of Scotland and it is important to us we provide a warm and memorable welcome to the millions of people who travel through our doors every year.

"The interactive woodland is a fun and engaging way of showcasing one of our most beautiful natural environments and I am sure many will be surprised to find themselves in a forest when they step off their flight.  Not only will it create a real sense of place, it will hopefully inspire people to visit Loch Lomond & The Trossachs during their visit to Scotland."
