Event TV: Fairy hosts giant bake sale for Make-A-Wish

Fairy, the brand famous for its washing up liquid, raised £150,000 for its partner charity Make-A-Wish last week (20-22 November) by hosting a giant bake sale.

The event took place at Westfield shopping centre in west London. A giant Tutti Frutti Yule log was sliced into 12,000 pieces for shoppers to sample, with the brand encouraging a £1 donation per portion.

Fairy showcased the power of its liquid at the event by washing up all 12,000 dishes with just one 780ml bottle. It donated an extra £10 for every plate washed.

The experience took place within a large green installation in Westfield’s North Atrium. It also featured a giant Christmas tree made of plates.

The recipe of the cake was decided upon following the final of Fairy’s baking competition, which was held earlier this month. Bakers from across the country competed to see their festive creations win the prize – a mass-produced version to feed Westfield’s shoppers.

Vicky Ashley from Stockport was declared the winner.

TV presenter and The Saturdays singer Rochelle Humes fronted the campaign and made an appearance at the event on 21 November.

The charity experience follows on from . The Bake-A-Wish dessert measured 12 by 10 metres and used 8,360 eggs.
