This was the first time Diner en Blanc had come to London. Guests were dressed from head to toe in white, and the location was disclosed only an hour before the event.
Diners brought their own picnic hampers, as well as wine, tablecloths, napkins and crockery.
Masses of white napkins were waved in the air to mark the start of the picnic, and sparklers were lit at the end, before diners danced under the stars to a live jazz band.
The flash feast is already a hit in 20 cities across the globe. It has its roots in 1980s Paris, when François Pasquier returned to the city after a few years abroad and held a dinner party to reconnect with friends. So many wanted to come that he asked them to convene at the Bois de Boulogne and to dress in white, so they could find each other.
The organising team behind the Diner en Blanc event is always composed of a network of friends in each city, who volunteer their time to plan the event. This year, April Wiens was one of the main hosts. She said the event would return to London next year with an even bigger secret venue.
