Frictionless mobile engagement technology Wi-5 launched at the end of November. It is described as a practical solution to the problems event marketing professionals face while working on campaigns involving mobile interaction. The company says Wi-5 removes all barriers to user engagment at activations by being 'platform and device-agnostic', requiring no apps, downloads or even an active internet connection.
Concerto Live recently hosted a showcase of event technology suppliers, called . Held at the Leadenhall Building's new event space Landing Forty Two, it saw ten suppliers demonstrate their kit, including virtual reality experiences from production company Inition, gesture recognition tech from Apache, projection mapping from Projection Artworks and LED wristbands and lanyards from Xylobands.
Also at the showcase was live design and printing company Luma, which has launched YrInsta - printing technology that features live Instagram printing. Users can snap pictures on their smartphones or other device, then upload them to Instagram via a dedicated event hashtag. They stream instantly onto one of its touchscreens where they can then be printed onto T-shirts, fridge magnets and tote bags, for example, giving guests an instant personal souvenir.
DB Pixelhouse, the digital event technology arm of DB Systems, has developed a solution using infra-red bars that enables any surface to become a multi-user environment. The company said precise multi-user, multi-touch use on large video walls has always been a challenge, with the go-to tech historically being infra-red radar. More recently, the use of infra-red bars has vastly improved multi-touch capabilities.
