Event Solutions: Gamble acquisition delivers high-profile clients to Wraith

Portable catering equipment hire supplier Gamble has been sold for 拢4m to Wraith, a UK provider of flexible accommodation units.

Leicester-based Gamble employs 80 staff and has supplied kitchens to events across the UK such as the Cheltenham Festival, the British Grand Prix and the Ryder Cup. Its founder and managing director, Richard Gamble, will be retained by Wraith as a consultant following completion of the acquisition.

Wraith executive chairman David Wraith said: "The purchase of Gamble takes Wraith into the new and exciting market of portable catering equipment and brings with it some high-profile, prestigious customers.

"Gamble will benefit from our extensive resources as a publicly traded company, which will be used to support its expansion in the years ahead."

In the year to 31 October 2005, Gamble's turnover was 拢4.75m and operating profit stood at 拢436,000. The Gamble fleet currently consists of 拢5.1m of rental assets. Chairman Wraith confirmed that the company board expects the acquisition to bring new customer relationships as well as creating scope for cross-selling opportunities with Wraith's existing assets and customer base.

Wraith went public on the AIM market in March 2005 following a merger with Seashell Group. The company's portable accommodation business operates from seven UK locations: Lincoln, Rainham, Weston-super-Mare, Southampton, Tamworth, Ampthill and Leicester.
