To mark a milestone moment for the department store, MCM Creative Group staged a two-hour event at Birmingham’s LG Arena in September 2014, reaching more than 25,000 employees in the audience, via satellite link and online broadcast to stores and employees’ homes.

John Lewis 150 For All was hosted by Davina McCall and hand-picked John Lewis employees who auditioned to be co-hosts.

An Olympic-style opening ceremony featured more than 400 staff representing 62 branches and teams, and two-way broadcast feeds showed further celebrations in London and Edinburgh.

Singer Paloma Faith, Supergrass frontman Gaz Coombes and Fyfe Dangerfield of indie rock band Guillemots performed at the event, and fundraising saw more than £500,000 presented to charity Barnardo’s.

During and after the event, 4,000-plus live texts and picture messages were sent by employees, with an estimated 65%of attendees posting on social media.
