Troxy
Troxy celebrated another record-breaking year in 2016-2017, attracting huge events including the Robbie Williams Brits Icon Concert, Secret Cinema X, Schwarzkopf European Hair Show and the D&AD Awards, all down to the hard work of its 13-strong management team.
The venue hosted 155 events and won 46 new clients in 2016, contributing to a significant revenue increase of 18.7%. The impressive 70% repeat bookings are testament to the fact that the team delivers great events that keep clients coming back.
Because it's an independent venue, the Troxy team can take on shows and events with very little notice and its open approach to all event suppliers means clients’ creativity is not restricted.
Building the Troxy’s profile
The team's focus for 2016/2017 was developing the music sector, to bring in high-profile acts, and increase sport and comedy events. The appointment of Simon Eaton, who previously worked for AMG at Brixton Academy and EMI, as business development manager (music) was instrumental to this and his passion for live music and strong contacts made a significant contribution.
Other new additions were Anushka Gunputh as box office manager and Liz Large as operations manager, both vital in helping the venue take on increasingly high-profile events.
Sink The Pink, the Kerrang! Awards and Secret Cinema are just a few of the events that are now regular features of Troxy's calendar. The regularity with which shows sell out – such as the three Bianca Del Rio nights in February 2017 attended by 6,500 – also illustrates the venue's growing reputation on the London scene.
Highly Commended: Westfield
Last year’s winner, the Westfield Events Team impressed judges again this year. By proactively selling in-house event services to external clients, the 11-strong team delivered 230 events across both London Westfield centres in 2016, exceeded the £210,000 income target by 30% and secured new business from Vogue and The Gadget Show, as well as repeat bookings from Samsung, The Job Show and Disney.
Key events delivered included: Captain America: Civil War film première, Summer 北京赛车pk10, Beauty Unbound, Ice Rink and DreamWorks Grottos, Lady Gaga Rooftop Performance and Beyond The Waterfall collaboration with Bompas and Parr.
