Background

Muir began his career with Arena Group (then Black & Edgington) in 1990 as a general manager in Scotland. His most recent previous role as managing director of Arena Structures & Arena Seating led to his promotion earlier this year to group chief executive. Muir is currently finalising plans for Arena Group’s involvement in the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Achievements in 2013

For Muir, the event that stands out is the World Triathlon Grand Final in London last September, which included creating 20 structures and 1,200 seats, plus full project management. Building a year-long, semi-permanent music venue in Northern Ireland was also a highlight.

In July, Muir shared feedback on the economic impact of London 2012 on the event industry at a meeting with David Cameron, Boris Johnson and Sebastian Coe. Meanwhile, Arena Group won four awards, including Best Transformation of a Space at the ISES Garden State Gala Awards.

Testimonial

"I’ve worked with Grahame since the 1990s, shortly after starting at Henley Royal Regatta. Since that time we have worked incredibly closely with Arena Group to grow and improve the event each year. Grahame’s professionalism and knowledge are a huge comfort, and behind him stands the might of Arena."
