The Evening Standard's editor, George Osborne, and the event's creative directors, Grace Dent and Tom Parker Bowles, gave speeches to the crowd, highlighting some of the treats in store throughout the month.
Dent said the ambition of London Food Month is to "unashamedly prove that this city is the greatest place to eat on Earth", while Jon O'Donnell, managing director of of ESI Commercial, explained how the Evening Standard wants "to create the biggest festival London, or even the UK, has ever had".
The Banking Hall played host to the launch of the newspaper's inaugural Food Month in which guests were invited to indulge in various cusines and party into the evening with a set by Radio 1 presenter Nick Grimshaw.
