Evening Standard to trial home delivery to boost circulation

The Evening Standard is launching a home delivery trial to 124,000 London homes.

Starting this week, the activity, the largest home delivery trial ever conducted by the Evening Standard, is designed to increase the take-up of regular home delivery to boost its 373,973 circulation.

It comes at a time when the Evening Standard's distribution methods are under close scrutiny as its rival Express Newspapers considers launching a free evening newspaper in London.

From this week, the Evening Standard will be distributed free to homes in south-west London by representatives of Foxtons estate agents.

The 124,000 homes in areas including Battersea, Balham and Wimbledon will receive the title each Tuesday evening. Each recipient will be offered a deal to have the Evening Standard delivered for six weeks for £5.

Each delivery will include an eight-page wrap on property to promote Foxtons and the Evening Standard's Homes & Property section.

Mike Anderson, the managing director of the Evening Standard, said: "If the trial is successful we will consider extending it."
