LONDON - The Evening Standard has appointed Walker Media to handle its media planning and buying account.

Walker won the business following a pitch process that was triggered by the title’s acquisition by the Russian oligarch Alexander Lebedev.

The previous incumbent, Starcom MediaVest Group, held the Standard account as part of its relationship with the previous majority owner of the London title, Associated Newspapers.

Last year, Associated spent £400,000 on advertising to support the title but it is expected to receive a boost in its marketing budget as its new owner attempts to reposition the paper.
