Evening Standard ad sales director departs

Alan Brydon, advertising sales director at the Evening Standard, has left the newspaper with no job to go to.

An Evening Standard spokesman confirmed Brydon’s departure and said that a replacement would be annouced imminently.
It is not known if Brydon resigned his position prior to his departure earlier this week, but his name has been linked with News International’s plans for an afternoon freesheet.
Brydon, a former CIA Medianetwork managing director, replaced Mike Orlov as advertising sales director on the Associated Newspapers title almost four years ago.
Prior to joining Associated, he set up Accelerator Media, a new-media investment company with Phillip McDannell, formerly operations director at Yahoo! Europe and managing director of Chrysalis Group.
