Euro RSCG Worldwide appoints Cabaco as US chief creative officer

NEW YORK - Euro RSCG Worldwide has appointed Wieden & Kennedy creative director Jose Cabaco as chief creative officer of its North American division.

Cabaco will report directly to Esther Lee, chief executive officer of North America and president of global brands. His appointment is effective immediately.

As creative director at Wieden & Kennedy, Cabaco first worked in Amsterdam and more recently at the group's Portland office in Oregon. He oversaw the creative strategy for Nike Europe, Nike Latin America and Electronic Arts.

Before his time at Wieden & Kennedy, Cabaco co-founded creative agency Home, and served as its executive creative director in Portugal. The agency later merged with WPP Group's Grey Advertising to become GreyHome.

Cabaco has also worked for Saatchi & Saatchi Lisbon, Cineponto/Leo Burnett Lisbon, Vitruvio Leo Burnett Madrid, Young & Rubicam, Nova Publicidade and EPG/TBWA in Lisbon.

Lee said: "Jose's vast and varied experience has prepared him for this sizeable leadership role at Euro. He has been an entrepreneur, and has worked on small brands at big agencies and big brands at creative hot shops.

"While he has strong US experience, he has worked on four continents, speaks five languages and embodies a global cultural spirit. His perspective on our clients' business challenges and on how we set up an agency model of the future will be invaluable."

Throughout his career in Portugal, Mozambique-born Cabaco oversaw work for leading clients including 3M, BPN Bank, Coca-Cola, GlaxoSmithKline, Honda, Kellogg's, Master Foods, McDonald's, P&G, Suzuki and Vodafone.

Cabaco said: "Euro RSCG Worldwide presents a rare opportunity in that it has the desire to raise the bar of its creative product, it offers the resources of a global network and it gives me the chance to partner with Esther Lee, a former Wieden client at Coca-Cola, whose enthusiasm and commitment to promote excellent creative products is very respected."
