Omnicom, the incumbent, had defended the estimated €30m (£26m) business in the competitive review.

Manning Gottlieb OMD continues to hold the account in the UK, which is thought to be one of ELC’s biggest markets in Europe.

ID Comms managed the review.

ELC was a founding client of M2M in the UK in 2003 but moved its account to sister shop Manning Gottlieb OMD in 2016 – a move that led to Omnicom shutting M2M.

The beauty group spends $2.7bn (£1.93bn) annually on "advertising, merchandising, sampling, promotion and product development".

ELC did not immediately comment, while Dentsu Aegis Network and Omnicom each declined to comment.
