Speaking at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole last month, ESSA chairman Steve Barratt praised the efficiency with which the association has grown telling members that a good trade association will prove its value during a recession.
Members also heard from ESSA Director Chris Skeith, who listed achievements including resolving the long standing issue of contractors and the CITB; work on electrical regulations and of an array of ESSA documents.
ESSA treasurer Dave Freeman was also on hand to reassure members of a strong financial position for the association. He adressed that the 2007 merger with trade bodies BECA and the AEC had caused no members to leave the association.
"What a great AGM. Given the current climate I imagine it was easy for many, including myself, to not attend," said Revelation managing director, Matt Sims. "Taking an afternoon or longer out of your business is a tough call. So turning up and seeing so many heads was a welcome surprise."
The event also won praise from industry figures including Octanorm UK, managing director, Alan Sheridan, Big Yellow Group's international franchise director, Tom Wilcockson and Equinox Design director Nick Hardy.
