ESPN launches Brit-focused ad campaign

LONDON - ESPN is launching a multimillion-pound ad campaign focusing on British sport and fans to support its new sports channel.

The Disney-owned broadcaster will use the strapline ‘It's great to be here' and run ads across TV, outdoor, and press. It shows sports fans in their every day surroundings wearing their team's shirt.

The focus of the campaign will be the channel's 46 live Premier League matches. The channel airs today on Sky with Virgin Media customers receiving free coverage of Premier League matches during August.

Sky Sports subscribers will be charged £9 a month. The first Premier League matches air on 15 August. ESPN also has live rights to 30 games from the Scottish Premier League's new season.

The campaign, was developed by roster agencies Wieden & Kennedy Amsterdam and agency Bruce Dunlop & Associates. It is scheduled to run across its channels including ESPN Classic and ESPN America, as well as Sky Sports, Sky Sports News, Sky Movies, Discovery and FX.
