- England's bid to stage the World Cup campaign 2006 is set to launch its first ad in the run up to this year's tournament.

The press ad, created by the campaign's agency Saatchi & Saatchi, is aimed at both domestic and international decision makers in the world of football.

The ad features a baby wearing football boots lying on an England flag beneath the headline: "The birthplace of football. There's nowhere better for 2006".

Accompanying copy outlines reasons why the 2006 World Cup should be held in England. It argues that the game was born here and the world's best players want to play here.

The ad will appear in specialist UK and international football and sporting publications, including World Cup 98 Guide, FA Cup 98 and Gary Lineker's World Cup 1998.
