Emirates lines up travel savings for Arsenal fans

Emirates is considering launching discount travel packages for Arsenal fans as part of its £100m shirt and stadium sponsorship deal with the club.

The packages are one of several opportunities being looked at by the airline ahead of its sponsorship of the team in the 2006/07 football season.

They will include discounted flights and premium services, which will be promoted via Arsenal's media channels.

Emirates is also a sponsor of next year's FIFA World Cup in Germany and will launch a multimillion-pound global TV campaign later this month to highlight its involvement.

The activity will be supported by press and online and is Emirates' biggest adspend of the year, accounting for a significant part of its annual £80m global marketing budget, of which nearly 50% is spent on sponsorship.

The ads, created by Saatchi & Saatchi in Frankfurt, show football fans mimicking an aeroplane as part of goal celebrations. They will run in the UK for one month to coincide with the next round of World Cup qualifying games.
