Emap signs Virgin veteran Taylor

Emap Radio has poached Steve Taylor, station manager and 10- year veteran of Virgin Radio, to take the role of creative commercial director.

The newly created role is to concentrate on generating creative solutions for advertisers and their media agencies across sponsorship, promotions and other non-traditional revenue streams.

The new role will address the Emap national and regional radio portfolio, including youth brands Kiss and Kerrang! and London title challenger Magic FM, and across Emap's regional properties.

Taylor has been station manager at Virgin Radio for the past two-and-a-half years, holding various senior roles including group enterprise director, heading the team across promotions, sponsorship, client sales, commercial marketing, PR and new media. He also set up a national promotions department for the Australian Radio Network.

Taylor will take up his new role in the autumn and will report to Dee Ford, group managing director of Emap Radio working closely with managing director of radio programmes Mark Story, and Karen Stacey, broadcast sales director at Emap Advertising.

Stacey said that Taylor's radio credentials and experience would add to the Emap Radio Team.

"Emap Advertising is absolutely delighted to welcome someone with Steve's credentials into our business.

"This is a very exciting time for radio at Emap, and Steve's considerable track record in radio will further strengthen our senior radio team."
