The magazine will be edited by the former editor of Attic Futura's Sugar, Jennifer Cawthorn, and will be priced 90p. It will have an initial print run of 100,000.
Emap is looking to cash in on the runaway success of Heat, which is taking the young adult market by storm. In the latest set of ABCs, Heat recorded a massive 106% year-on-year increase to 355,304, performing much better than the established celebrity titles OK! and Hello.
The move is being seen as a risk by the publisher, as Sneak -- previously known as Project Monkey -- is tapping the same market as failed BBC teenage celebrity title Star, which was closed in October last year.
However, Emap could be trying to recapture some of the teenage readers it has lost following a decline in the teenage music sector, which has been partly attributed to the rising popularity of celebrity content in magazines.
One pop music market leader, Smash Hits, is currently trailing in second place in the sector, with a circulation of 200,212, behind the BBC's younger Top of the Pops magazine, which has sales of 245,423.
