Once users have registered their arrival dates and musical preferences with a telephone hotline, personalised SMS messages will include tips on where the 'best' DJs are playing, secret party locations, best beaches, restaurants and island gossip. Mobile communications giant O2 is powering the service.
Q magazine's service, called Qtext, will cost subscribers about £4.50 and aim to keep Glastonbury-goers in the loop.
It will provide subscribers with the complete festival line-up when it is announced, a festival guide, an exclusive logo, ringtone and access to competitions for VIP tickets.
Available in time for heavy metal music event Ozzfest, Kerrang!'s offering, K! Text, will offer subscribers a special logo that will provide access to a special VIP area. Also costing £4.50, the service will feature SMS updates and ringtones.
Telecoms technology firm Intelliplus is handling messaging fulfilment for both the Q and Kerrang! services.
A spokeswoman for Emap Performance said: "These services allow Emap to increase the interaction we have with our consumers, as well as exploit new revenue streams."
