Emap hires Five viewer research head

Emap has appointed Carl Ratcliff, former head of viewer research and insight at Five, in the new role of head of brand strategy development.

Ratcliff will develop new business opportunities for key Emap brands across its consumer magazine, radio and digital business and will examine audiences鈥 relationships with the brands.
He will work closely with the management, editorial, marketing and commercial teams of those brands identified for development.
Ratcliff will report to David Pullan, who also worked at Five before joining Emap.
Pullan was MD of FHM Worldwide and Emap East until last month, when he was named strategic marketing and brand development director for Emap鈥檚 consumer magazines and radio stations.
Ratcliff joined Five in 2004 from TBWA/London, where he was a planning partner working with clients such as PlayStation, Holsten Pils and Michelin.
鈥淐arl brings a wealth of experience in brand planning and strategy to this new role and with it a collaborative, listening style that has endeared him to both creative and commercial people wherever he has worked,鈥 said Pullan.
