Emap hires Eve's Bruton as editor for Grazia magazine

LONDON - Emap has poached Jane Bruton, editor of BBC Magazines' Eve, to take the helm at its new women's weekly glossy Grazia.

Bruton, who is currently on maternity leave from BBC Magazines, will take the role of editor of Grazia, reporting to editor-in-chief Fiona McIntosh, ahead of the title's launch next spring.

Bruton has been editing Eve since 2002 and oversaw a relaunch of the title. Prior to that, she was editor of IPC Media's Living etc.

Emap is promising that Grazia will transform the women's magazine market, being the first UK glossy magazine to appear weekly.

David Davies, managing director of Grazia, said: "In today's culture of immediacy where value for time is paramount, Grazia will mean women won't have to wait a whole month for their glossy fix."

Eve has retaliated by appointing Emap's executive editor of new-product development and former New Woman editor Sara Cremer as its new editor. Cremer has spent 10 years in the industry, including four years editing New Woman, where she helped to successfully reinvent the title and won the BSME New Editor of the Year award.

BBC Magazines has also announced that Jessica Gibson has been promoted to publishing director, following two years as associate publisher of Eve, and Angela Brown, ad director on the National Magazine Company's Zest magazine, is joining as ad manager. Brown has also spent time at She and Company magazines.
