Emap appoints Cathcart as chairman to replace retiring Broadbent

LONDON - Emap has appointed non-executive director Alun Cathcart as chairman of the company, replacing Adam Broadbent who is retiring.

Emap announced that Cathcart will take up his new role following Emap's 2006 annual general meeting on July 13. In the interim, he has been made deputy chairman to ease his transition into his chairmanship.

Broadbent said: "The board looks forward to working with Alun Cathcart as deputy and eventually as chairman. He has broad public company experience and a strong strategic insight, which have been of great value to the group since his appointment as a non-executive director."

Cathcart was appointed a non-executive director of Emap in June 2005. He is also chairman of The Rank Group, Palletways Group and Avis Europe.
