was created by professionals from across the event industry and government, and is designed to replace the Health & Safety Executive’s HSG195: A guide to health, safety and welfare at music and similar events.
The new guide is being published in draft form online, with comments from the industry being accepted until 31 October.
The 24 chapters in the draft guide cover topics including venue and site design, crowd management, temporary structures and noise.
An editorial panel and steering group co-ordinated the work with funding support from the Concert Promoters Association and members of the forum.
Jim Winship, EIF secretary, who has led the project, said: "It has taken a lot more time and negotiation than we originally hoped to get to a publishable guide but I believe it has been a worthwhile journey.
"We now have a Purple Guide that is up-to-date and within the control of the industry, which means that we can ensure that it is kept up-to-date as practices and legislation change."
A final version will be published later this year after comments are compiled.
