Egmont expands children's publishing operation

LONDON - Egmont Publishing is launching an in-house customer publishing business.

Egmont expands children's publishing operation

The new business branch, CanDo, will publish childrens books on a customer publishing contract.

The company will not own the licence to the characters published through CanDo. It currently publishes several children's book series under the Egmont brand. These include stories from the Mr Men, Thomas the Tank Engine, Winnie the Pooh and Ben 10 series. It will continue to publish and hold the licence for these characters.

Egmont Magazines is another branch of the group. It publishes a range of children's magazine titles including Barbie, Thomas the Tank Engine and Dora the Explorer. It also publishes two titles for older children, Toxic and Go Girl.

The publishing group has been involved with several promotional partnerships including a Mr Men/Little Miss giveaway with The Mirror newspaper and on-pack offers with Weetabix and the Shaun the Sheep brand.
