Editorial: History repeating as Bollore courts Aegis

Vincent Bollore will need all his charm and negotiating skills in the imminent battle that will determine the future of Aegis.

In what is rapidly becoming a re-run of the Havas tug-of-war, Aegis' directors are urging shareholders to reject Bollore's efforts to win boardroom representation. This leaves the Breton Buccaneer, who owns 27.5 per cent of Aegis, in a predicament - if he gains control, he risks having to confront a hostile board and destabilising the company. If he fails, he may find it hard to offload his shares. Bollore jokes he has bought the flowers and is ready for a long courtship. After his seduction of Havas' stakeholders, only a brave punter would bet against him doing it again.
