Editorial director Butt steps down from Highbury House

LONDON - Damien Butt is stepping down from his role as editorial director of Highbury Entertainment after 13 years in publishing.

Butt was one of the founding members of Paragon Publishing before it was taken over by Highbury House Communications, which publishes Health & Fitness, Fast Car, DJ and What Video & TV, in 2003. He is currently editorial director for 45 consumer and B2B magazines.

Butt has launched more than 60 magazines including DVD Review, Play and Made Easy, and, more recently, oversaw the management buy-in by venture capital group 3i and the sale of Paragon for £32m to Highbury.

Butt said: "It's been an exhilarating 13 years. Turning Paragon into a high-quality magazine publisher -- no longer a follower, but a leader -- has been a huge challenge, and I am extremely proud of the company, its products and its people."

Butt will leave the company at the end of August for a "well-needed break" and to pursue other challenges.

Highbury House Communications is now the third-largest UK publisher of consumer and B2B titles. Last year's integration with Cabal Communications and Paragon ensured a turnover of £108m, up from £93m in 2002.
