EDITORIAL: Cannes may pay the price for its greed

With hotel charges of £395 a night and £50 for a round

of four drinks, Cannes has made a good living fleecing visitors to the

International Advertising Festival. Now it seems hellbent on squeezing

the organisers until the pips squeak. With Barcelona gagging to step in

as host, Cannes risks losing its second-largest money-spinner after the

film festival. Serves it right.
