Edinburgh Evening News recognised for football texting service

LONDON - The Edinburgh Evening News has been lauded for the best multimedia campaign at the UK Newspaper Society Circulation, Editorial & Promotions Awards.

The paper won the accolade for its football fan text alert service, which drew almost 12,000 subscribers.

Two newspapers were singled out for new projets in the ‘Innovative Newspaper of the year' category: Hull Daily Mail for its video journalism and Southern Daily Echo for Out There magazine. The Edinburgh Evening News was highly recommended for its postcode news alerts.

The Scotsman Publications' other newspapers, The Scotsman and Scotland on Sunday, also won awards. The latter won ‘Best in-paper reader offer' for an ex-pat recruitment campaign, which resulted in a 6% increase in sale for Scotland on Sunday south of the border.

David Newell, director of the NS, said: "Technological advances are enabling press groups to explore new ways of communicating with their audiences across a variety of platforms."
