Edeka "Christmas 2017" by Jung von Matt

German supermarket Edeka has stolen some of the spotlight over the past few Christmas seasons with ads including a controversial story in 2015 about an old man faking his own death to bring his family together.

This year’s campaign transports viewers to a dystopian future ruled by robots, but one of those machines goes looking for human connection. After failing to conjure a festive celebration with a mannequin, the lonely robot discovers a family in the woods and gets to join the feast. The ad was written by Christina Rankel and art directed by Robert Wieder at Jung von Matt, and directed by Matthijs van Heijningen through MJZ. MPC created the animation and visual effects.
