The eco-card range includes cards made out of four different eco friendly materials: PETg (a recyclable plastic); recycled PVC; Ingeo PLA (a plastic made from plants) and Bloomcard (made from recycled junk mail).
The Bloomcard contains wild flower seeds and can be planted at the end of its use to grow poppies, daisies and buttercups.
Matt Payne, managing director of the Plastic Card Shop, said: "These are only small steps, but we believe we are all in the same position and want to minimise our impact on the environment -- but not compromise on the quality of product or brand integrity.
"The PETg, PVC and PLA ecocards have the look and feel of traditional plastic cards and we can incorporate all the usual features such as a magnetic stripe or a bar code."
The Plastic Card Shop also makes its gift card packaging from recycled material or FSC certified paper.
David Laybourne, managing director of Real Digital, a printing company with loyalty clients, welcomed the development. He said: "Plastic cards undoubtedly have a positive impact on the campaigns they are used for especially loyalty schemes and reward programmes.
"All businesses and consumers are looking to minimise their environmental impact so if products like this can be developed which serve the need of the campaign while being more environmentally friendly it will be a benefit for all."
The launch of the ecocard is being supported by a with product information, advice and explanations of the various recycling and composting logos.
The Plastic Card Shop is based in Hampshire and supplies high street chains including Somerfield and Hackett.
