Whaley will be replaced by Chris Sherlock, head of the firm's carbookers operation, who becomes ebookers' UK group head of marketing.
Sherlock, a former partnerships director at British Airways, will report to managing director Yashish Dahiya. He will be responsible for promoting the ebookers, Travelbag and Bridge the World brands.
Whaley will join Center Parcs in the new post next week. 'There is broader scope for me at Center Parcs,' he said. 'We are looking at opening a fifth UK village and developing the spa proposition.'
Whaley's departure comes as ebookers revealed reduced losses for the third quarter of 2003, down 39% to £1.9m. The company has sought to make cost savings this year, including the loss of 360 jobs.
Group chief executive Dinesh Dhamija described fourth-quarter trading as 'satisfactory' so far, but added that it needs the long-haul travel market to continue its recovery.
Whaley, also a former BA marketer, became ebookers' first UK marketing director at the beginning of this year (Marketing, 22 January). He was previously marketing director of the Travelbag brand.
