Ebookers hires Team Saatchi for first creative job

Travel company ebookers, which incorporates the Flightbookers offline brand, has made its first agency appointment, hiring Team Saatchi to its creative account.

The appointment was overseen by the company's chief executive, Dinesh Dhamija, and marketing manager Moira Aarons, who joined from women's portal iVillage in the summer.

Team Saatchi has been hired on a trial basis without a pitch. Advertising is currently developed in-house. Aarons said it wanted to develop more creative direct response advertising than currently afforded by the "wallpaper effect" of travel classifieds sections.

The company also wants to more closely integrate the ebookers and the 20-year-old Flightbookers brand. It is currently rebranding its Flightbookers shop at Gatwick airport as ebookers and will review the merits of doing the same for its central London shop, which is on Tottenham Court Road.

The ebookers site is also poised for a major makeover aimed at speeding up its booking engine.
