EBay to offer fixed price sales channel

EBay UK (www.ebay.co.uk) has launched a channel that allows consumers to offer products for sale at fixed prices.

The channel, called Buy It Now Only, is part of eBay UK's long-term strategy to migrate the brand to a broader-based e-commerce platform.

Jennie Reed, marketing communications manager at eBay UK, said: "Since introducing the fixed-price, buy-it-now feature on our auctions section, it has become one of our most popular features, which is why we have launched a separate channel."

The move follows the launch of Amazon Marketplace by e-tailer Amazon.co.uk, which lets consumers and companies offer new and used products for sale alongside its own offerings.

Reed added that Buy It Now Only will undercut the 15 per cent commission on product sales that Amazon Marketplace is charging.
