EBay to adopt coupon selling policy

LONDON - EBay has agreed to introduce restrictions on how coupons are sold on the site in an attempt to combat fraud and misredemption.

The new rules incluce banning the sale of electronic and prohibting bulk sales of more than 20. Additionally members selling paper coupons have been asked to post altered scans to prevent people printing them out and attempting to redeem them in-store.

The policy comes into force after June 30.

The sale of online coupons has thrived on the auction site, however this has also been seen to aid misredemption. decision to look at how coupons and vouchers are sold on its site follows talks with the ISP and Valassis.

EBay has been under increasing pressure from companies over the behaviour of its members. Recently the site has come under fire from brands such as and gray market-sourced products available on the site.

Last month it launched a campaign to tackle to problem of being sold on the site.
