
While the office will continue to exist as the agency’s official China headquarters, it will do so in the absence of client service and creative teams, with only the financial team remaining, .
Greater China chief executive Gary Tse said that focus would shift to Shanghai, with Beijing acting as a "support office".
"The downsizing of our Beijing operation mirrors our clients’ needs," Tse explained. "We have seen our key clients move out of Beijing, and this greatly reduces the survival space of an agency.
"Our focus now is to continue to grow and build our Shanghai operation as a resource centre, to provide a full-service capability including strategic planning, digital and data, to all our clients across China."
DraftFCB will service the Haier account from the Qingdao office.
