Dr Pepper to offer all Americans free can of fizzy pop

NEW YORK - Soft drinks brand Dr Pepper owes every person in the US a can of soda -- and all because Guns 'N Roses' are set to release their new album before the end of 2008.

In March, Dr Pepper said that it would give every man, woman and child in the US a free can of drink should the rock band manage to release 'Chinese Democracy' before the close of 2008, an album that has been 17 years in the making.

Guns 'N Roses yesterday announced the album would be released on November 23.

This is also the only day that Americans will be able to redeem their free can of drink, by logging on to the Dr Pepper website and registering their details. They will then be sent a coupon for a free can, which they can redeem at any retailer that sells Dr Pepper.

Tony Jacobs, vice president of marketing for Dr Pepper, said in a statement: "We never thought this day would come. But now that it's here, all we can say is 'The Dr Pepper is on us'".
