DMA welcomes postponement of corporate TPS

The Department of Trade and Industry has postponed its proposal for a corporate TPS.

The proposal to allow businesses to register has been delayed until spring 2004. This will give telemarketing companies more time to bring their procedures in line with the new rules set out in the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations.

"This will allow time for the practical difficulties, such as which member of staff within a company is responsible for registering its phone numbers, to be resolved," said Tessa Kelly, DMA director of compliance operations.
