Disputes prompt Troughton to exit HTW for new role

LONDON - Martin Troughton, the Harrison Troughton Wunderman chief executive, is preparing to leave the agency he co-founded with Steve Harrison in 1998.

Disputes prompt Troughton to exit HTW for new role

HTW is the UK arm of the WPP below-the-line network Wunderman. Troughton is expected to move across to a senior role within Wunderman Europe, reporting to the network's president, EMEA, David Sable. However, this new role has yet to be agreed.

Troughton's desire to move is said to have been motivated by disputes within the HTW senior management.

Wunderman has moved to strengthen its operation in Europe, appointing Sable in June with a brief to handle key client relationships and supply strategic insights on global business. Key clients include Ford, Vodafone, Xerox, IBM and City Bank. Sable reports to Daniel Morel, Wunderman's global chairman and chief executive.

HTW was created in 2001 out of the merger of HPT Brand Response - the agency set up by Harrison, Troughton and Tim Patten - and Wunderman's Impiric.

This year, the agency began to consolidate its place in the above-the-line field, winning the through-the-line San Miguel and Macmillan Cancer Relief accounts. It is also expected to handle above the-line creative work for its Star Alliance account in the future.

It is unlikely that Troughton will leave Wunderman altogether, because he and Harrison are believed to be tied to an earn-out clause for at least another year.

Troughton is a former managing director of the now-defunct Bates Communications, while Harrison is the former creative director of Ogilvy Direct.

Sable and Troughton were unavailable for comment as 北京赛车pk10 went to press.
