Disney XD will include a mix of live-action and animated programming. It will replace Jetix and will initially launch on Sky. Discussions with other platforms are ongoing.

The channel will include a mix of live-action and animated programming, which targets boys but also appeals to girls.

Launching simultaneously with Disney XD will be DisneyXD.co.uk, featuring numerous games and exclusive video clips.

It will be Disney's fourth UK pay-TV channel alongside Disney Channel (and Disney Channel +1), Playhouse Disney (and Playhouse Disney +1), and Disney Cinemagic (and Disney Cinemagic HD, Disney Cinemagic +1).

Boel Ferguson, general manager for Disney Channels UK & Ireland, said: "Disney Channel's portfolio of channels is already the undisputed leader in the kids' TV market and Disney XD is the perfect vehicle to build on the success in this strategic segment."
