Disney Channel to screen cartoons for Orange mobile users

LONDON - The Disney Channel has signed a deal with Orange to screen a number of its animated series, including 'Kim Possible' and 'Recess' and children's TV dramas 'Jake Long: American Dragon' and 'Hannah Montana', to mobile customers.

The service will include shorts from other Disney programmes, including 'That's So Raven' and 'The Secret Life of Zack & Cody', and animated shows from Disney Channel Original Movies.

Orange said the deal with Disney was part of a pan-European campaign to provide mobile content for customers in Belgium, Portugal, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia and, eventually, France.

John Hardie, executive vice-president and managing director of Disney Channels EMEA, said: "Kids and adults in the UK will be able to watch our great programmes wherever and whenever they want.

"It is increasingly how people want to see their television and we are committed to providing the consumer with the products they want at a time of their choosing."

Last month, Disney Channel Europe said it was to reinvent Enid Blyton's classic 'The Famous Five' as a small screen, 26-episode series.
