Disney appoints Mothercare chief to promote parks

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts has poached Pat Mitchinson from

Mothercare to fill its new post of marketing director for the UK,

Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Mitchinson, who has been Mothercare's marketing controller since 1999,

will report to Tom Allen, vice-president of marketing and sales for the

EMEA region and vice-president of Walt Disney Travel Company UK.

The appointment comes amid an integration of the company's European

offices, initiated six months ago in response to an overall

consolidation of the travel industry.

Stephen Park, who left the company at the end of last year, had headed

marketing and sales for the UK, Ireland, the Middle East and Africa,

while marketing directors in Germany and France led regional

offices.

While Disney does not own any theme parks or resorts in the UK, the

company keeps a London staff to promote its US operations. Its UK

creative account is held by Leo Burnett.
