
The company, which runs Discovery Networks UK, did not break out its UK revenue or profit, but said its UK arm did contribute to an overall rise in ad revenue internationally in local currency terms
However, in US dollar terms, across its non-US operations, it generated $78m in ad revenue, down 13% year on year.
Distribution revenue, earned from pay-TV platforms paying for its channels, stood at $182m, down 2% year on year.
Operating income before depreciation and amortisation (OIBDA) stood at $92m, down 5% year on year.
Discovery partly blamed the decline on the impact of "unfavourable" foreign currency fluctuations and lower distribution revenue.
Excluding the impact of foreign currency fluctuations, revenue increased 7%, it said. And advertising revenue in local currency terms was up 3%, led by growth in EMEA and the UK.
Worldwide, revenue stood at $881m in the quarter, down from $885m the previous year. OIBDA stood at $381m, up 13% year on year.
Global second quarter net income - otherwise known as pre-tax profit - totalled $183m, compared to $43m for the second quarter a year ago.
