The Direct Mail Information Service (DMIS) has published figures
showing direct mail campaigns are responsible for generating more than
£23bn worth of goods each year. The figures, released last week,
reinforce the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising's latest
Bellwether Report, which highlighted DM as the fastest-growing
communications medium. The DMIS study found that consumers spent an
average of £514 in the past year as a result of being mailed by UK
companies, with more than 40% of the total being spent on clothes.
